  • Goals are not that important. Find the goals, but use the goals to design your system to follow, instead. Following the system should be a pleasant journey, rather than concentrating on whether you have achieved your goal or not every day. (It still makes sense to evaluate the system by comparing the goals with the results)

Changing China? too big! Focus on the little things (people that need help)

You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.

  • It’s hard to change your habits if you never change the underlying beliefs that led to your past behavior. You have a new goal and a new plan, but you haven’t changed who you are.

True behavior change is identity change. You might start a habit because of motivation, but the only reason you’ll stick with one is that it becomes part of your identity.

The goal is not to read a book, the goal is to become a reader. The goal is not to run a marathon, the goal is to become a runner. The goal is not to learn an instrument, the goal is to become a musician.
